Rare Baby Names
Finding Rare Baby Names for Your Child
If you are a new parent or you are going to be a parent soon then you have begun the process of finding a name for your baby. Rare baby names have become a trend in the society today and I believe that the main reason for this is that parents want their babies to be seen as something special. Now we all know that a baby will always be special in the eyes of the parent but having giving the newly born children rare baby names will add a little extra to the statement.
It might be a bit over the top to call a name a Statement but that is what I believe that it is. Rare baby names are statements from parent to the outside world that here is a human being (baby) that is more than average. Using a name like Sara og John is considered common and in the eyes and minds of some parents this is a statement of being average.
Because of this we have seen hundreds if not thousands of websites trying to help parents with finding the right name for their baby boy or girl. Some sites focus on the common names and will have huge lists of the top 100 baby names used and they might even be divided into year and gender. Some of the most popular sites are:
Baby Names world: Click here to go to their website
BabyNames.com: Click here to visit their site
and then there is the SSA.gov site which is the official site for baby names by the Social Security Administration in United States. Click to go to their site.
All three sites have focused on popular baby names and are therefore catering for the majority of the public as the majority uses common baby names (in fact that is what makes them common).
Now on the other hand you will find niche sites that will try to deliver rare baby names to the parents that are searching for something unique. They might be targeting things like odd baby names, rare baby names or unique baby names. These are all terms that parents are searching for when looking for a name online.
The major niche players (I am not sure that you can be major in a niche way but anyway…) are sites like:
UniqueBabyNames: Visit their site here
BabyNamesGarden: Go to the site here
Both sites have substantial lists with baby names that are uncommon, rare, special and even odd. If this still isn’t enough for you I suggest that you go buy one of the weekly magazines or a tabloid newspaper. Then look for celebrities that have had a baby recently. Celebrities have become know for giving their children rare baby names and you might become inspired.

Hi all. Thanks for all your comments. Rare baby names are of cause “rare” but as with almost everything else, it all depends on the country you’re in.
@ Harleen, Harman and Angad would be rare as far as I know whereas Herman and Vicky is quite common in some countries.
@ indian, sure I’ll help you out. What have you tried to look for so far?
