Baby Hand and Footprint

The Perfect Gift!
I have previously posted an article on several article sites about how you can use a baby hand and footprint as a perfect gift for parents or grandparents. As the baby can’t create the handprints or footprints by him/her self it is often that it is the parents that are doing it and thereby the gift will mostly be for the grandparents.

So when is it that you will be able to give away a baby hand and footprint collection to your mother or father (or maybe parents in law)? To be honest with you I firmly believe that almost any occasion will be right for this type of present.

Sure you can have situations such as big events like a 50, a 60 or maybe even a 70 year birthday but you can still give away one of these unique gifts that they will surely love. Not only because it is a special gift, but it is a gift from their grandchild that they love so much.

If you think that the occasion requires more than just a baby hand and footprint you can always buy an extra “normal” gift to present as well. But I will assure you that there is not much in this world as great as there types of gifts. Filled with love and you can not buy them for all the money in the world. Just like the MasterCard commercial says: “It is priceless”.

How to create a baby hand and footprint
So if you decide to give this gift then how do you go about creating it? Well there are many ways to do this but for it to be special I recommend that you do as much as possible yourself so that it’ll be highly unique.

The way that most people use is to go find a kit to create the baby handprints and footprints easily and painlessly. If might cost you from 10 to 100 dollars or more but it all depends on what you would want to create.

If you are going for the paste solution the price will be in the lower range and that is actually the solution that most people go for. If you are not as creative as you though you were you can always go buy another kit and still be able to keep your shirt on.

One way to find a baby handprint or footprint kit is to go to one of the major search engines and search for terms like “handprint kit” or “footprint kit”. This will generate a lot of results but if you look at the right side you will find the Google Adwords (Advertisements). If people are willing to pay to have their ads shown you know that this is somewhat serious people and you might find that this is the better and safer way to go.

When you have searched for the terms that you find suitable you can buy the kit and have it shipped to your door. When it arrives you are ready to get started.

Most footprint and handprint kits have a manual that you can follow so that you can make the paste just right.

A good idea would be to read through the entire manual before starting the handprint or footprint creation process. It would be a shame if the paste thickened before you were able to place your baby’s hand or foot in it.

You can add color to the imprints if you feel like it but a white baby keepsake plate will also be beautiful in the eyes if a grandparent.

Top 100 Baby Names

Now let me start with a little question for you… How many people to you think searches for the phrase “top 100 baby names” each and every single day?

Is it around 100 people? Or what about 1000 people? Could it be even more?

Yes it could! The fact is that more than 17000 people search for that exact term each and every single day. WOW! I was amazed when it first came to my attention. Then I though to my self… Why are people going for the number “100”? Is there something magical about top 100 baby names?

I quickly came to the conclusion that there is nothing magical about it but it is a good round figure that people can relate to. One thousand names would be way too many to go through if you are trying to come up with a name for your new baby and a top ten baby name list would be a bit too few. So the best number came to be one hundred.

Then I thought to my self… “Why do people want to find the names that are the most commonly used instead of going for something unique?”. Well there can be many reasons and I can only guess as I didn’t want to spend time to do a survey.

I think that is has to do with the way humans are created. We need to feel like a part of something and to be part of a group. This can be a group of strangers and a group of friends that has the one thing in common that their children have the same names.

This might be a social aspect and I am not saying that there is anything wrong with it. Not even close. Actually I think that my own parents did the same when I was born and I like my name so no hard feeling here.

If you are here because you are looking to list of baby names and maybe even top 100 baby names lists I suggest that you try to visit Babycenter. Besides top 100 list from 2005 and 2006 your will be able to find a lot more information about baby names.

Another great site to visit is the governmental site called Statistics.gov.uk. Here you will find statistics and also huge lists of what people have been naming their babies in the years that have past.

If you can not find what you are looking for I would suggest that you use Google to find more sites. If you decide to avoid the commonly used names then try searching for phrases like “unique baby names” or “odd baby names”. You will find tons and tons of sites with search options and explanations of from where the name originates and what the meaning of the name is.

Picture of Baby Footprint

My guess is that you are visiting this page because you have one of two goals. You are either looking for a free picture of a baby footprint or you want to learn how you can easily create your own pictures without too much hassle.

First of all let me tell you that if you are looking for free pictures of baby footprints then you are going to spend some time searching. Unfortunately these types of pictures are not commonly posted on the internet and therefore you’ll find a very limited selection of sites that have a very limited selection of baby footprint photos.

And that is not all. You will surely find a few pictures that are “ok” but all the good ones will cost you money. For some reason photographers have found out that there is money to be made on these types of baby pictures and that is unfortunately not to our advantage.

However if this is the route you would want to travel I will suggest that you go searching on SXC. They have a huge selection of pictures, some pictures related to babies and a few pictures of baby footprints.

If you’re willing to pay for a picture of a baby footprint I suggest that you try PhotoSearch. They sell individual pictures or whole packages. If you buy a whole package your price per picture will naturally decrease but before you do you will have to make up your mind about what you are going to do with all these pictures.

Create your own Baby Footprint Picture

If you are like me and hate to pay for things that, if you spent some time, you are able to create yourself, then here is what you can do.

First of all you will need to have a digital camera. It doesn’t have to be a fancy one with 10 mega pixels or anything like that. A simple old camera will do but it is important that it is digital.

Once that is done you will need to find a baby foot. The best thing is to find a foot that is attached to a baby so if you are not a parent with a baby yourself then you will need to go “borrow” a baby that you can take pictures of.

The reason that you need a digital camera to take a picture of a baby footprint is that the first pictures you’ll take won’t be that good as it takes practice to take good pictures.

But if you try for half a day I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it.

So now you are able to not only take pictures of baby feet but you are also able to easily take a picture of a baby footprint. Enjoy!
